A West Side driver must be able to apply all the knowledge managed about commercial driving, to drive trucks to destinations according to federal and state regulations, company policies and Fleet Manager recommendations and, to apply as best as possible, your experience at maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in challenging situations. Some of the skills West Side requires from its possible drivers are: to possess a valid Commercial Drivers License with a Haz-Mat (hazardous material) endorsement, to pass a pre-employment drug screening, to complete all the pre-employment interviewing procedures and the driver orientation sessions, to perform simple mathematical calculations that will allow him/her to read receipts, maps, signs and maintain logs and records, to operate the vehicle in a safety way, to know all the required regulations of the Department of Transportation ( safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance, transportations of Haz-Mat and load securement).
