R.S. Martin Junior found Martin Midstream, his own company with only one truck in 1951. His vision was to supply fuel to drilling rigs in the East Texas Oil area. Today, Martin Midstream Partners is a company specialized in the hydrocarbon, chemical and bulk products. Martin Transport Company was created from Martin Midstream and it is dedicated to the transportation of hazardous materials. It has a fleet of over 400 tractors and 700 trailers. Martin Transport adds up to 19 terminal locations and each one has the proper maintenance facilities. Among the products they carry are acids and caustics, anhydrous ammonia, asphalt, chemicals, crude oil and the pulp mill liquid.
Each Martin Transport unit has different characteristics according to the freight they hold. For example, asphalt equipment includes insulated carbon steel trailers for the hot asphalt, and lighter aluminum for lower temperatures. For the dry bulk load, they have up to 4 hopper tanks, pneumatic and vacuum pneumatic.
Martin Transport now is operating in locations in the Southeast of the country. Some of their centers are located in Texas, Alabama, Florida, Arizona, Georgia and Illinois among others.
To be a Martin Transport driver you should have a CDL with tank and hazardous materials endorsements, a year minimum in tank experience, two years verifiable tractor tailor (5th wheel) experience, must be at least 23 years old, and be able to pass DOT physical exam, pulmonary function test and controlled substance test.
