Fikes Truck Line, an opportunity to owners and operators

Fikes Truck Line Company is non-asset based carrier specialized in flat beds with a main office in Hope, Arkansas. Founded in 1941, it opened new terminals in Colorado, Kentucky and Texas and they have grown for 25 years to develop delivery routes to 48 states.

The base of this business is the owner operators, the fleet owners and the agents. In 1981, Fike Truck Line was bought by its current president, Jim Smith, who started with 11 Owner operators. Now, this company is the second oldest trucking company in Arkansas. It is well known not only by the trucking professionals but also by the big manufacturing companies.

The philosophy at Fikes Truck Line is not based just on the concept of delivering, but in that of connecting people with a mission statement. With this vision, Fikes Truck Line has focused the job in hauling materials, coil steel, structural steel, machinery and manufactured products.

Fikes Truck offers customer service in its regional terminals in Owensboro, Fort Worth and Pueblo. The regional sales offices have satellite tracking and EDI capability system.  And for long distance delivery to Weyerhauser in Georgia, Temple Inland, Niagara La Salle and Alcoa, the company also offers  flatbed service.

Principles like safety, profitability and lifestyle are priorities in Fikes Trucking. Therefore, the advantages for the contractors are as many as 78% of gross, weekly or bi weekly pay time, permits furnished, home on weekends by choice, 100% of fuel surcharge, contractor referral program and more.

To be part of Fikes Truck Line, you must have certain requirements like being at least 25 years old, 2 years OTR and CDL class A. To the owners they ask for an occupational accidental, deadhead and bobtail, passenger and physical damage insurance.

Also, the owner equipment must have specific characteristics like 6 beveled 4x4s six rubber belting pads, 8 chains and binders, 12 load straps, set of steel tarps 6 steel coil racks among others. Both, the tractors and the trailers are required to pass a safety inspection, and the trailers must be less than 10 years old and have no holes on the floor.
