The founder of this company is William C. McQuaide. In 1936 he began carrying steel for the Apollo Steel Company with one truck in Apollo, Pennsylvania. Despite difficult years during World War II the company grew one truck at a time.
In 1949 McQuaide began to transport for the Johnstown Plant of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation; in 1951 McQuaide located its new headquarters in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Its operations and headquarters remain there today.
Starting as flatbed carrier for steel, McQuaide evolved into a full provider of logistic services. They serve van, TL and flatbed service along with other services like warehousing, storage trailer rentals, truck and auto repair, air charter, pipeline contractor and computer services. McQuaide service is fast and dedicated.
Most of the traffic of the company moves in and between northeastern states like Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia but they have 48 state authority.
McQuaide has flatbed and van divisions that provide bonded, dedicated, expedited services with exclusive use of vehicle, power lift-gate, import and export that includes full container transport. Their types of equipment are Power Units: Straight trucks and 2 and 3 axle tractors.
Their trailers are expandable flatbeds from 45' to 65', flatbeds of 45' and 48'; (some of them with removable sides), Lowboys and 28', 45', 48', 53' vans (many of them with air-ride).
They have Storage Trailers that provide month to month long-term rentals and they can be used to solve unexpected or emergency storage needs.
