Con-Way Employees To Visit Schools Nationwide With Anti-Drug Message

Company Supports Red Ribbon Campaign for 15th Consecutive Year Ann Arbor, Michigan - October 11, 2005 -- Parades, puppet shows, pep rallies and face painting are just a few of the activities over 900 Con-Way Transportation Services (Con-Way) employees will be using in a nationwide anti-drug campaign they are taking into schools starting the week of October 17.

This is the fifteenth consecutive year the company has supported the Red Ribbon Campaign, a national anti-drug initiative which started in memory of slain Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique Camarena. Con-Way, a subsidiary of CNF, Inc. (NYSE: CNF), will participate with equipment and personnel from its six U.S. operating units who will visit over 1,100 elementary and high schools and present anti-drug messages. They will distribute hundreds of thousands of red ribbons embossed with the programs message: "Reach for the Stars, Be Drug Free! Campaign materials are often delivered to schools in Con-Way tractors and trailers, which serve as an added attraction for many youngsters.

Last year Con-Way people reached almost 700,000 young people with Red Ribbon anti-drug messages. This year we plan on reaching even more. Our involvement with Red Ribbon is time and resources well spent in the communities where our employees live and work, said David S. McClimon, president of Con-Way.

The national Red Ribbon campaign, which is in its twentieth year and also supported by the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Family Partnership, will begin October 23.

Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. is a $2.6 billion transportation and services company that provides time-definite and day-definite freight delivery and logistics services for commercial and industrial businesses in the United States, Canada and Mexico. All Con-Way operating components are ISO certified for 9001 and 14001 and the less-than-truckload and expedite units are C-TPAT/PIP certified and FAST highway carriers.

Con-Way is a subsidiary of Palo Alto, California-based CNF, Inc. (NYSE: CNF), a $4.0 billion freight transportation, logistics, supply chain management and trailer manufacturing company.
