PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 2005--FedEx Ground, a leading small-package ground carrier and an operating unit of FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX), has named Shannon A. Brown senior vice president, Human Resources. Most recently he was vice president of Human Resources Services and chief diversity officer for FedEx Express in Memphis.

As senior vice president, human resources, Brown will oversee human resources administration, compensation, benefits, employee information systems, recruitment and EEO/diversity initiatives for the company's workforce of more than 36,000 employees.
This new responsibility builds upon Brown's 27-year career with FedEx Express, where he joined the company as a cargo handler and customer service agent. During his tenure, Brown held several upper management positions, including vice president and general manager of Worldwide Vehicle/Ground Support Equipment Maintenance and Air Ground & Freight Services for the Southern Region. Most recently, Brown managed all FedEx Express human resource services within the United States, including recruitment, compliance, employee information systems and cultural diversity initiatives.
The promotion brings Brown to the Pittsburgh area where FedEx Ground is headquartered. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science from National-Louis University of Evanston, Ill., and a Master of Science in intermodal transportation from the University of Denver.
