Watkins Motor Lines will open its tenth and eleventh Regional Express operations on February 21. The new hubs will be in Knoxville, TN, and St. Louis, MO. Watkins started its next-day service 13 months ago; and in addition to these two new locations, the company also has Regional Express operations in Albany, NY; Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC: Manassas, VA; Newark, NJ; Orlando, FL; Shreveport, LA; Thomasville, GA; and Tulsa, OK.

Each hub provides overnight services to-and-from the WML terminals that are within a 600-mile radius of it.

The 16 Mid-Atlantic and Midwest satellite terminals that will transfer freight at the Knoxville hub to give their customers next-day service include: Asheville, NC; Atlanta and Augusta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Camden, SC; Charlotte, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Cincinnati, OH; Decatur, AL; Greensboro, NC; Greenville, SC; Lawrenceville, GA; Lexington and Louisville, KY; Nashville, TN; and Roanoke, VA; as well as the Knoxville area.

The St. Louis operation will give customers next-day service between the following WML locations: Bloomington and Chicago, IL; Evansville and Indianapolis, IN; Kansas City, MO; Louisville, KY; Memphis and Nashville, TN; Rock Island and Schaumburg, IL; and Springfield, MO; as well as the St. Louis area.

With annual revenues approaching $1 billion, Watkins Motor Lines is the nation's largest privately held less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and currently has more than 10,000 employees and contractors, and operates approximately 2,900 company and contractor-owned tractors and 10,000 trailers.
