FedEx Freight Launches Advance Notice

Enhanced Shipment Visibility Improves Fast-Cycle Logistics

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2005--FedEx Freight, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), today announced the upcoming launch of FedEx Freight Advance Notice(SM), a new, industry-leading service feature that will provide customers with greater visibility and control of their less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments.

FedEx Freight Advance Notice will use the company's innovative technology systems to proactively notify FedEx Freight customers via the Internet and fax on the rare occasion that a shipment may be delayed beyond its estimated delivery date. This free communication will allow registered customers to make decisions and adjustments while a shipment is still en route, avoiding problems before they occur or minimizing impact to them and their customers.

"In today's environment of fast-cycle logistics, a late shipment is more than just an inconvenience--it can result in an idle production line, empty store shelves and missed sales," said Douglas G. Duncan, president and CEO of FedEx Freight. "With FedEx Freight Advance Notice, we are reducing uncertainties in our customers' supply chains, allowing them to better manage their businesses."

FedEx Freight has long recognized the importance of LTL in supporting fast-cycle logistics. Since its formation in 2001, FedEx Freight has operated a highly-engineered network, invested in strategically-located service centers, and consistently shortened transit times between points across the United States. Over 90 percent of FedEx Freight shipments deliver in one or two business days. FedEx Freight also offers a no-fee money-back guarantee for eligible shipments based on scheduled delivery dates--further enhancing the commitment to reliability and peace of mind that FedEx Freight offers customers as they plan their inventory cycles.

FedEx Freight Advance Notice, designed in direct response to customer needs, aligns with FedEx Freight's commitment to deliver a superior level of service in the LTL sector. "This new feature is one more way we continue to extend the superior service and reliability our customers have come to expect from FedEx Freight," said Duncan.

FedEx Freight Advance Notice will be available on Sept. 13, 2005, free of charge to all registered "My Account" users on the FedEx Freight password-protected Web site who ship within the contiguous United States. FedEx Freight Advance Notice will apply to most direct shipments handled by FedEx Freight, but will not include FedEx Freight international shipments. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, or FedEx Kinko's shipments are not included.

To become a registered FedEx Freight "My Account" user, a customer may go to the FedEx Freight home page and click on the "Register" link under the Welcome Center heading. Once the customer completes an online registration form and selects a User ID and password, the information will be validated and the customer will receive an e-mail confirmation within 48 hours.
