On Sept. 6, 2005, FedEx Freight implemented a 30-day moratorium on increases to its standard fuel surcharge, determining it would not exceed pre-Katrina levels. As a result of Hurricane Rita, FedEx Freight has extended the moratorium on increases to its standard fuel surcharge until Oct. 31, 2005. FedEx Freight utilizes a fuel surcharge, which is updated weekly, based on fuel prices published by the U.S. Department of Energy.
