Award Recognizes Truckload Carrier's Commitment to Technology
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Sept. 22, 2003 Schneider National Bulk Carriers, a division of Schneider National Inc., has received the Information Technology (IT) Enterprise of the Year award from Transport Technology Today. The award is given to pioneers in the adoption and deployment of new technologies, and to enterprises that seek to improve transportation industry operations through the efficient implementation of information technologies that enhance business processes.
In order to meet its customer service needs and give Schneider National Bulk Carriers a competitive advantage, Schneider National sought to update its IT transportation software applications to provide detailed shipment status reports sent via EDI, customer order-entry and the ability to track and trace shipments on the Internet. Schneider National selected TMW Systems to manage the transportation system and worked with them in implementing the new system.
After integrating the new system with other vendors, a code was implemented that strengthened trailer continuity logic, maintaining tight control of the trailer fleet.
With the new total systems integration, Schneider National Bulk Carriers now offers a new level of technology that enhances customer satisfaction. With the new system, revenue per associate is up six percent over Schneider National Bulk Carriers' initial project estimate and 18 percent over the prior run rate.
In operation only one year, Schneider National Bulk Carriers has seen a 30 percent return on investment due to increased efficiencies.
