MIAMI, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, has named Anthony G. (Tony) Tegnelia to serve as President of U.S. Fleet Management Solutions (FMS), and Vicki A. O'Meara to serve as President of U.S. Supply Chain Solutions (SCS). Mr. Tegnelia, who most recently served as Ryder's President of U.S. Supply Chain Solutions, is now responsible for all U.S. operations of the Company's largest business segment, Fleet Management Solutions. The FMS business segment is a leading provider of truck leasing, rental and maintenance services. Ms. O'Meara most recently served as Ryder's Chief of Corporate Operations where, among other responsibilities, she worked closely with the Company's business leaders in developing Ryder's global business strategy. The SCS business segment provides supply chain management and logistics design, engineering, planning and implementation, as well as Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC), a turnkey transportation package that includes vehicles, provision of drivers, and routing and scheduling services.

Mr. Tegnelia joined Ryder in 1977 as Manager of Business Planning and has held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Finance division. Mr. Tegnelia also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company's Integrated Logistics business segment. Following changes in the Company's organization structure in late 1999, he was named Senior Vice President of Field Finance, where he was responsible for global planning and pricing, as well as financial control and reporting functions of the Company's worldwide field operations. Later, Mr. Tegnelia served as Senior Vice President of Global Business Value Management, where he implemented successful strategies for improving margin on existing accounts, as well as identified value propositions for optimal profitability with new accounts within the Supply Chain Solutions business segment. Following that assignment, he was elevated to his most recent role as President of U.S. Supply Chain Solutions. Prior to joining Ryder, Mr. Tegnelia held various finance and operations positions at the corporate offices of United Brands Corporation. Mr. Tegnelia earned a master of business administration degree in Finance from Boston College and a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
Ms. O'Meara most recently served as Ryder's Chief of Corporate Operations. In that position, she was responsible for corporate strategy and development, information technology, law, compliance, human resources, government relations, safety, security, environmental, communications, public affairs, and facilities. In addition, she has been the business leader of Ryder Fuel Compliance Services, an operating subsidiary based in Houston, Texas. She joined Ryder as Executive Vice President and General Counsel in June 1997 from the Chicago office of the law firm of Jones Day Reavis & Pogue, where she was a partner and chair of the firm's global Environmental, Health and Safety Group. Ms. O'Meara has also served in a variety of federal government positions in Washington, D.C., including her nomination as Assistant Attorney General under President George H.W. Bush, heading the Environmental and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice; Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and Assistant to the General Counsel in the Office of the Secretary of the Army. Ms. O'Meara was a 1986-87 White House Fellow, and in that capacity she served as Special Assistant to the White House Counsel and as Deputy Executive Secretary of the Cabinet Domestic Policy Council. Ms. O'Meara served four years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Captain. She supported the Army logistics management function and was an instructor at the Army Logistics Management School. Ms. O'Meara received a law degree from Northwestern University Law School, a master of arts degree in Environmental Science and Resource Policy from George Washington University, and a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Cornell University.
