For the Seventh Time, Ryder Has Been Named One of the "Top 50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work for in the U.S."
MIAMI, Sept 19, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, today announced it has been selected by LATINA Style magazine as one of the 2005 LATINA Style 50. The annual report distinguishes the "Top 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in the U.S."
This year, more than 800 of the most prominent corporations in the U.S. were included in the extensive search and were evaluated based on criteria including: number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/child care support, employee benefits, women's issues, job retraining, affinity groups and Hispanic relations.
According to the report, Ryder encourages the participation of Hispanic women, as well as the rest of its diverse workforce, to take advantage of professional training opportunities, mentoring, career counseling, flextime, scholarships for employees' children and reimbursements for continuous education initiatives. Ryder was also recognized for having Latinas in management positions throughout the organization and for its Hispanic Network, which since 1989 has served as a resource group for Hispanic employees and has helped enhance the company's position in the Hispanic community from a marketing, social, economic and community perspective.
