St. Cloud MN, April 22, 2005 - Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. of St. Cloud, Minnesota, announces the construction of its new corporate headquarters, which will be located at 725 Opportunity Drive in St Cloud, Minnesota. The site is located along the southeast side of the newly completed junction of CSAH 75 and Interstate 94, across from the I-94 Business Park. A Ground-Breaking Ceremony was held on Friday, April 22. The new Anderson Trucking Service facility will serve the growing administrative and educational needs of the business by providing office, meeting room, classroom spaces and driver amenities. Parking for both autos and tractor-trailer rigs is planned.
The two story, 60,000 square foot building was designed by BKV Architectural Group of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It presents a bent two-wing design, which will allow maximum views of the surrounding countryside, embracement of staff and visitors as they approach the building, as well as visibility from Interstate 94. Sustainable Design Strategies were incorporated into this project. According to Jack Boarman, Principal at BKV Group, "At BKV Group, we recognize the positive impact an environmentally sensitive building can have on the people who work in it, who visit it and on the surrounding community. Sustainable design is a comprehensive process used to create buildings and sites that minimize the use of resources and reduce harmful effects on occupants and the environment. Sustainable design strategies include optimizing energy conservation and efficiency, minimizing the direct and indirect environmental impacts, maintaining high-quality indoor air, conserving resources and recycling to minimize waste." This concept was carried forward in the landscape design by Damon Farber Associates of Minneapolis, MN, to include integrated storm water management, utilization of native plant materials and two ponds to accentuate the areas abundance of wetlands.
The construction of the new corporate headquarters comes at a milestone in the companys history. 2005 marks the 50th Anniversary of the incorporation of Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. Rollie Anderson, President and CEO of Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. reflected on the project. " It seems appropriate that we are beginning construction on this new building as we move into our second fifty years of business. Our connection to St Cloud, the Central Minnesota area, and especially Cold Spring Granite, has been instrumental to our success. To celebrate that connection, granite will be incorporated into key external and internal building surfaces."
The first phase bids have been awarded. Second phase bid requests will be sent this week. R.A. Morton of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota is the Construction Manager for the project. The anticipated occupancy for this building is March 2006.
