Schmidt, formerly Vice President, Engineering of CSX Transportation, brings a wealth of rail industry experience to the role. Schmidt brings a broad background of experience in railway and industrial engineering, management, operations, regulatory issues, government relations, capital/strategic planning, labor relations, safety, mergers and acquisitions, and procurement. As Vice President, Engineering for CSX Transportation, Schmidt held responsibility for all track, signal, bridge and building maintenance and construction throughout the CSX system. In his new role, Schmidt will be responsible for coordinating railroad and multimodal projects throughout the eastern United States.
