Schneider National Trucking Company

“The ON TIME ORANGE MACHINE”
By John McDowell

Schneider National Trucking Company headquartered in the hometown of the Packers (Green Bay, Wisconsin) is the leading provider of premium TL (truckload) and Intermodal services. Schneider National has 39 locations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. That myriad of locations is important, because Schneider National provides services to over two-thirds of the Fortune 500 companies. From humble beginnings, Schneider National has grown into a transportation giant. The company was founded in 1935 by A.J. Schneider, who started the business with proceeds from the sale of the family car. Today, Schneider National is the largest truckload carrier in North America. In the 69 years since Mr. Schneider founded the company, Schneider National has grown to the point, that in 1992, the company exceeded $1 billion in annual revenue. And just a mere four years later, Schneider National passed another milestone-by exceeding $2 billion in annual revenue in 1996. Schneider National offers these services: One-way van; Intermodal (Truck Rail, OptiModal); Dedicated Operations; Brokerage; Expedited services.

As you can imagine, with any transportation company which is experiencing the growth that Schneider National has experienced and is continuing to experience, there are plenty of job opportunities. And, there are……especially for qualified drivers (both Company Drivers and Owner-Operators). And, the opportunities are there for both solo drivers and team drivers.

Company Drivers who drive for Schneider National have just gotten a new pay package, which will allow them to earn (on average) about $1500-2500 more per year for solo drivers and $3500-4500 more per year for team drivers.

Other advantages to being a Company Driver for Schneider National: an industry leading benefits package; paid training; great mileage pay (loaded or empty); driver referral bonuses; quarterly bonuses; free vision insurance; free life insurance; medical and dental insurance at reduced rates. To be qualified for a Company Driver job (team or solo) for Schneider National, you must: be at least 21 years old; pass a DOT physical; pass a DOT drug screening; have a solid work history; no convictions for careless or reckless driving; no convictions for drugs or alcohol.

Opportunities for separating military exist in these Divisions: Van; Dedicated; Tanker; and Flatbed. Separating military can be interviewed and accepted up to 2 months before separation.

A new compensation package has added an additional yearly pay of some $2500-4500 for Owner-Operators who drive for Schneider National.
