Pacer International Named to Fortune List of ''America's Most Admired Companies''
CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 2005--Pacer International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PACR), the North America logistics and freight transportation provider, is named in the March 7 issue of Fortune Magazine as one of "America's Most Admired Companies." This is the second consecutive year for Pacer to be on the list.
In January, Pacer was also named to Forbes Magazine's "Platinum 400," a listing of the "Best Big Companies in the United States" for 2005.
Companies selected for recognition in the Fortune competition were judged by executives of competing firms, Fortune said. Winners were evaluated on the basis of eight principal attributes of corporate reputation: innovation, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, and quality of products and services.
Pacer, which was formed eight years ago and went public in 2002, reported revenues of $1.8 billion for 2004. One of the company's key strategies is to offer a full portfolio of individual logistics and transportation services, while at the same time providing integrated supply-chain solutions for customers that require customized support.
Don Orris, Pacer's chief executive officer, said the Fortune recognition, like the Forbes award before it, validates that Pacer is implementing its strategy successfully. "These accolades are particularly heartening since they demonstrate that Pacer has been able to rapidly create a logistics company with a level of operating excellence that is recognized and respected by both competitors and customers. This could never have happened without the focus and dedication of our people," Orris said.
