Services include transportation of fresh produce from the West Coast to destination in the Midwest and the Southeast.
Tony Smith, the president of Southern Refrigerated Transport, founded the company in 1986 and sold it in1998. The company is now a subsidiary of Tennessee-based truckload carrier Covenant Transportation Group.

SRT trucks aren't lacking under the hood either. They are powered by 435-500 horse Detroit and Cummings engines. Combine that with EATON 10 Speed transmissions and Eaton rear-ends -- and you get an astonishing 1650 ft/lbs. of torque. Drivers will never have to worry about being able to pull that next hill. Southern Refrigerated strives to provide today's hard-working drivers with superior benefits, a competitive pay package, and the absolute best equipment available.
Southern Refrigerated Transport, Inc. has been at its current site on U.S. Highway 67 for four years now and they are still growing. Tony Smith said that they added more than 100 employees last year. They already have 1,065 employees and 155 of that holds internal positions in the office or the shop. The rest are either drvers or in sales.
This year, SRT expects to haul close to 93,000 truckloads of freight in excess of 100 million miles. They carry just about anything and everything across the lower 48 states and Canada. SRT estimates that their total revenue for 2010 will exceed $160 million. SRT is one of the Top 10 temperature-controlled trucking companies in the United States based on its revenue.
Southern Refrigerated Transport, Inc.'s latest move is purchasing the land east of where they are now for growth purposes. This will ensure that this company is here to stay for a long time.
