The Truckload Carriers Association is pulling together two large-scale PR campaign focused at spotlighting TCA and the trucking industry to the general public. The two publicity campaigns are: the Highway Angel of the Year award presentation and a television commercial about trucking's support of the Wreaths Across America program. Both campaigns will be shown to fans watching the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl.
This year's Bowl will be broadcast on
ESPN, and it will start on December 18th at 3:30 p.m. MST at the
Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. It will feature the Fresno State
Bulldogs against the Northern Illinois Huskies, to be aired on
ESPN.
TCA's Highway Angel program is the
first of the two-pronged publicity venture. This has been the third
year in a row that Bowl sponsors are letting TCA to give an account
of the story of its Highway Angel of the Year to nearly 30,000 fans
in attendance.
John Kaburick, TCA Chairman, will
award Shawn Hubbard, a professional truck driver for Ruan Transport
Corp., with a special trophy for heroism. Hubbard, almost
single-handedly, pulled a trapped 23-year-old man from a burning car
seconds before it became totally consumed in flames.
The
second focus of the publicity campaign highlights a 30-second
television commercial produced by TCA bringing attention to the
patriotism of the trucking industry. Scheduled to air during the
first quarter of the Bowl, the commercial will relate to viewers
about the role that TCA members play in the Wreaths Across America
program.
Kaburick said that one of TCA's goals
has always be to "put a face behind the wheel," drawing
attention to large audiences the finer points about the trucking
industry and the men and women who move America's freight. He also
extended his gratitude to uDrove, since they have notably bolstered
their Highway Angel's visibility and exposure to the general public.
".... We consider the wreath commercial a good opportunity to
extend our outreach even further," he continued.
