COLUMBIA, S.C. Overnite Transportation Company, one of the nations leading less-than-truckload carriers, was awarded first-place honors at the South Carolina Trucking Associations Annual Safety Awards Banquet held here.
The company was named recipient of the states top safety honor for 2004 in the Industrial Safety General Commodities category for companies with 501-1,000 employees.
Overnite also received two second-place awards for General Commodities carriers at the SCTAs safety awards ceremony on March 15. The first was for Local General Commodities carriers traveling 2-5 million miles last year and another went to Overnite for the General Commodities Combined category for carriers traveling 10-15 million miles in 2004.
Overnite is honored to received these three outstanding safety awards from the SCTA, Vice President-Safety and Security Phil Warren said. These awards say a lot about the caliber of our people, both in South Carolina and across our system. Our drivers and Operations personnel have the highest standards for safety and professionalism, and these safety awards exemplify those qualities.
