12/25/2004 - Share the Joy Donates Food, Clothing, Bikes, and Toys to the Needy
For the eighteenth year in a row, the Share the Joy program donated its time and effort to make sure this holiday season was one to remember for underprivileged children. The program is compiled of employees from Gordon Trucking and Valley Freightliner who coordinate with local authorities to seek out and find underprivileged families around the community.
Donations were made by drivers, shop personnel, and office personnel of GTI and VFI to accumulate over $6,000. A generous donation of $2,000 was gathered from the drivers of GTI in a span of only 48 hours!
In the Pacific, WA area, 15 families totaling 43 children received food and toys. Share the Joy branched out to the Medford, OR area this year to help three families compiled of 13 children who also received food and presents.
A donation of $500 on behalf of the Share the Joy program was made to The Forgotten Childrens Fund to purchase bicycles for children in need.
Another $1,000 in toys was donated to the YWCA of Tacoma Domestic Violence Shelter for children ranging in age from 0-17 years old.
