Smithway sent seven drivers to compete in three different classes this year. Duane Dornath took First Place in the Flatbed Class and Henry Shriver took Second Place in the Straight Truck Class. Smithway took the Second Place Team Trophy for the second year in a row.

Smithway has competed for many years in the Iowa Truck Driving Championships but we also compete in Kansas and Alabama too. Our drivers take their skills from the road and put them to the test in the competition. They take a written knowledge test along with a personal interview. Then the drivers complete a pre-trip inspection with preset defects and are given a short period of time to locate them all. Finally the driving portion of the competition arrives, and not only are our drivers doing their best, but Smithway always has the largest contingent of volunteers at the competition.

We care about our drivers and their families, and the drivers' families care about being a team. The attitude is so positive it spills out to others. Our drivers represent themselves and our company as true professionals It is an honor to be working with so many professionals.
