Bryan Foods is a proud sponsor of the Southern University Scholarship Program supporting The University of Alabama, Auburn University, University of Mississippi and Mississippi State. It's their way of re-investing in the community that has been responsible for making Bryan Foods Inc. a success.
In 1909, J.C. Bryan, Sr. opened a small meat market in the back of a clapboard storefront in West Point, Mississippi. There he started a family business offering pork products for families in this charming Southern community. It wasn't until 1936, when his two sons John H. Sr. and W.B. took over the reins that a full scale processing plant was built and the company began to expand outside of Mississippi. Using special family recipes, specifically seasoned and prepared to reflect the flavor that Southern families preferred, the Bryan brand developed a reputation for delicious, high quality smoked meats that became legendary in the Southern region.
Today, Bryan Foods is a major food company with state of the art processing plants in West Point, Mississippi; Athens, Alabama and Tupelo, Mississippi. Bryan is one of the largest single employers in Northeast Mississippi and is a major contributor to Southern university scholarship programs as well as a number of local charities and the United Way. Bryan is recognized as one of the top brands in the Southeast, and in 1968, Bryan was proud to become associated with the Sara Lee family of brands, a global company with a reputation for excellence in food products worldwide.
