Cowen Truck Line, Inc. was founded in 1972 by Robert and Lavone Cowen. Bob Cowen had been an independent owner operator for twenty years prior to starting the company in 1972 with two tractors and three trailers. Mr. Cowen continued as one of the drivers until the company grew and was incorporated in 1977. In 1980 Tim Cowen, Bob & Lavone's son joined the company after completing college. Since that time the company has grown to its present size of 70 tractors and 200 trailers.
In 1997, Cowen Truck Line opened a new logistics business in Ashland, Ohio called Cowen Logistics, Inc. With the opening of this office, Cowen has been able to expand services with existing customers as well as new customers by handling all modes of transportation throughout 48 states and Canada. In June of 1999 Cowen Truck Line moved into a new 5,000 square foot office and 14,000 square foot maintenance facility in Perrysville, Ohio. This new facility has allowed the company to continue to grow and service additional customers.
They are a truckload carrier with authority to 48 states and Canada, with contract and common carrier authorities we offer extensive service to our customers, Full service brokerage company; ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) licensed, bonded and insured, 48 and 53 high volume van type trailers with a 2.2 to 1 ratio of trailers to tractors for easy shipping conversion, Close working partnership with customers, and to trace shipments with one nationwide toll free number.
They also have EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) service upon request with established customers, Multi-stop deliveries, and driver assisted unloading, Member of Ohio Trucking Association, National Association of Small Trucking Companies, Drop trailer service, Dedicated fleets where required, Team driver operation available on a contractual basis.
Cowen Truck Line's new facility, completed in 1999, is located just outside Perrysville, OH on State Route 39. The office building has over 5,000 square feet of space, allowing Cowen to grow easily and give additional service to new customers easily. It was designed with service to our customers in mind, using state of the art computer networking capabilities. The service building has more than 14, 000 square feet with three drive through bays for service on our trailers, three service bays for tractors, a full service drive through wash bay, and two loading docks to handle any shipping needs.
All trailers are washed weekly at our facility and on the road as required. Cowen boasts an excellent safety record and has an ISS (Internet Security Systems) value of category H, issued by The Federal Motor Carrier Highway Association. This is the highest rating given by the Federal Motor Carrier Highway Association.
