Food Express Inc. was in business of transportation of bulk corn starch from Stockton, CA to points in the Pacific Northwest and back hauling bakery flour to central California Points. Over the years, the business has raised from an initial 7 trailer combinations to a current total of over 120 tractors and 200 trailers.
Walter, Joanna and Kevin Keeney started Food Express in 1983. Walt Keeney is a second generation trucker. Walt is responsible for the overall operations and finances of the company and oversees all operations in the Pacific Northwest. Along with its headquarters in Arcadia California and 4 fixed terminal locations Food Express have equipment stationed in locations from Phoenix AZ to Seattle WA, Spokane WA, Great Falls MT and Ogden UT. This gives Food Express a great amount of flexibility in ability to meet the needs of bulk product shippers.
While bakery flour and corn starch remain a very important part of current business, Food Express has expanded into many other commodities in the Northwest including pebble lime, clay, and many chemicals for the paper manufacturing industry. Food Express has also added liquid trans-load, super- sacking of dry product and warehousing to Vancouver WA location.
Food Express has work available at all terminals, both line haul and local and operates mostly late model Freightliner tractors and dry or liquid bulk trailers.
Food Express Inc. provides services in various locations. In Southern California company provides food grade pneumatic trailers, Vacuum pneumatic trailers, Sugar pneumatics. Primary commodities handled: Flour, Sugar, Corn Starch, Other food grade dry bulk. In Central California company provides food grade pneumatic trailers, Vacuum pneumatic trailers, non code s/s liquid trailers. Primary commodities: Flour, Corn starch, non hazardous liquids, other food grade dry bulk. In Pacific Northwest, company provides food grade and non-food grade pneumatic semis and doubles.
There are many employment opportunities at Food Express. The driver candidates must be at least 23 years of age, have three years driving experience, and a clean driving record. Food Express offers competitive wages along with all the employment facilities according to the industry standards.
