Cowart's Construction is a member of Power and Communication Contractors Association and was started in 1975 by brothers, Ralph Cowart and Claude Cowart Jr. both of whom had worked in telephone line construction, acquiring experience in the military (Korean War) and in jobs with major telephone contractors in the Southeast. In 1987, Claude sold his interest to Ralph and his son, Rick, who currently heads the business.
The company is incorporated and holds contractor's licenses in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina and has employee strength of about 100 which support it ably to complete multi-million dollar contracts annually. This construction company has worked for the past 25 years on construction projects for the telephone industry through out the nation and some of its recent work has been in the Flippin for Northern Arkansas Telephone Company and at Cherokee Village and Melbourne for Century Telephone Co. Cowart's has its own fleet of backhoes, track hoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, rock saws, rock hammers and additional specialized heavy equipment which allows them to undertake a wide variety of projects such as these. The company can handle earth moving projects like excavations, trenching and rock removal, dirt hauling, building driveways and yards and boring under roadways.
The companyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s well maintained fleet of equipment and vehicles include bucket trucks, pick-up trucks, one-ton and 3/4 outfitted for utility construction, two-ton trucks, specialty trucks (dump, boom, digger), roller, trenchers, backhoes, drop plows, cable plows, directional boring units, plow trains and dozers, rock saws, hydraulic ram break hammers, air break hammers (moles), motor graders, cable extractors, case excavators and airplanes.
