Henry Foods Inc. was founded in 1929. Henry Eidsvold started his own candy and tobacco products distributing business out of the basement of his home in Minneapolis called HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Candy Company.  HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Candy Company had outgrown the original basement location in Minneapolis. The company was moved to Morris in West Central Minnesota. Henry chose the old LeGrande Hotel Building on Pacific Avenue in Morris as its new location.

HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Candy Company moved to Alexandria, MN in 1990. And purchased Ludke & Co., Inc. at that time and increases their product line to include grocery products and the company name was changed to HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Foods, Inc. to replicate the development.

HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Foods, Inc., has increases from distributing candy and tobacco products to the distribution of full line food service, paper and wholesale groceries. HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s services three-fourths of Minnesota ranging from the Canadian border to the Iowa border and as parts of Eastern North and South Dakota and HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s Foods is a distributing member of Pocahontas Foods USA, a nationally recognized foodservice purchasing and marketing group.

From itÂâ€Ã¢„¢s beginning, HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s has moved from a trunk of a car basement operation to a 152,000 square foot warehouse operation and product line has grown from a few candy bars to over 10,000 items and from a sales staff of one to a sales staff of 25 with eight field representatives. Henry's Foods is a wholesale distributor located in the city of Alexandria in west central Minnesota. Company sells to customer like, convenience stores, grocery stores, institutions, restaurants and other types of business that sell candy, grocery items, tobacco and food service products. Company having 150 employs, it remains a family owned, operated and oriented business.

The company owners Jim, Tom and Brian Eidsvold, reflect on the many interesting time periods HenryÂâ€Ã¢„¢s has experienced. The financial collapse of the 1920Ââ€Ã¢„¢s, The Great Depression era of the 1930Ââ€Ã¢„¢s, The war years of the 1940Ââ€Ã¢„¢s with allocations of products and supplies, The economic recovery of the 1950Ââ€Ã¢„¢s and 1960Ââ€Ã¢„¢s, The expansion of the 1970Ââ€Ã¢„¢s and 1980Ââ€Ã¢„¢s, The technology-driven fast pace and highly competitive 1990Ââ€Ã¢„¢s.
