R.C. McEntire, Sr. founded the company in 1938 as a tomato repacked. R.C. "Buddy" McEntire, Jr. bought the company in 1975 which had a single employee, three ripening rooms and a delivery truck. Since then, the company has grown to employing about 450 people in a 90,000 square foot facility located on the State Farmer's Market in Columbia, South Carolina. McEntire Produce is also a distributor of its products throughout the Southeast on a daily basis covering categories like repacked tomatoes, fresh cut lettuce, onions, cabbage, carrots and peppers as well as wholesale produce.  

McEntire Produce has three main categories of produce which are fresh-cut, repacked and wholesale. This company currently has more than 700 active products that are ordered, produced and delivered daily and serves both food service and retail food companies in the Southeast and also provides a design service for any product line to meet companyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s specific needs.

Customer service is a competitive advantage extended by McEntire Produce and it takes it one level further with its own in-house trucking business as it owns and operates 35 tractors and 70 trailers to service customers with deliveries throughout the Southeast. The company takes orders and delivers them within 24 hours. Although service area covers primarily the Southeast, this trucking facility enables the company to deliver outside normal distribution area in the case of an emergency or to provide hurricane relief. Some states in the Southeast that have delivery service extended by McEntire Trucking daily are Alabama, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and  West Virginia.  

Quality Assurance staff monitors and tracks numerous critical control points in the facility and in the field on a daily basis. In addition to this, the company asks independent third-party companies to inspect and audit HACCP plan to verify that everything necessary to ensure food safety is being done at McEntire Trucking. The QA staff also examines finished product to ensure customer specifications are met or exceeded and through continuous improvement and innovation, McEntire Produce is able to deliver the safest and highest quality produce to all customers alike-committed to providing the highest quality produce at the best value on a timely basis, while ensuring that food safety is maintained at all times.
