The SDS Lumber Company started its operations in 1946, during that period the surrounding region was populated by fifty or more lumber mills. Today, after over fifty years, SDS survives and thrives as one of the last remaining mills in the area.

The company grades their lumber and plywood according to a strict set of specification, ensuring that their products meet or exceed industry standards. SDS provides many products like umber, timber and logs, plywood and marine. SDS has manufactured lumber since 1946. Even though the company is working from past many years their commitment to quality remains the same. Minimizing waste and maximizing recovery is the key to their success. The companyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s computer controlled, state of the art stud mill is one of the most efficient mills in the industry, sawing an average of 7 logs per minute into lumber.

Designed in 1986, SDS' stud mill uses small, high quality logs. Before logs are sawn, they are scanned three dimensionally and then positioned for optimum recovery. Once sawn, boards are automatically sorted according to size, species and moisture content before they are dried, planed, trimmed, packaged and finally loaded onto trucks and rail cars for shipment. The company is constantly upgrading and improving their stud mill to keep pace with new advancements in technology. The company has a competent, dedicated workforce made up of employees who invest a great deal of care and energy into their work.

In line with SDS' tradition of strategizing for the future, their foresight is to urge SDS to develop a detailed, sustainable yield forestry management plan. SDS continues its long-standing tradition of manufacturing high quality plywood and lumber.
