A.M. Briggs was started in 1926 by Albert M. Briggs. Charles Harris, Sr., purchased the company in 1946, and then handed the reins to his son Chuck in 1972. Since then, the business has been managed by Chuck and his partner, Henk Wisker.
 
In 1979, company moved to their current 30,000-square-foot location. presentlu, over 100 people are employed to continue their reputation of excellent quality and service. 24 hours refrigerated trucks are used to deliver to more than 750 customers. In December 2000 A.M. Briggs, Inc. became part of the SYSCO Family of Companies. This move provided them with additional opportunities to developed their business and introduce A.M. Briggs quality products to a much larger audience. 
 
Their service area includes Washington D.C., Baltimore and its metropolitan area, Annapolis, and as far south and west to include northern Virginia, Warrenton, Manassas, Richmond and Williamsburg. The company is conceited to offer customer these services and standards, Highest Quality; the company offer USDA approved, quality controlled Prime and Choice meats and Certified Angus Beef product, specializing in custom cutting and dry aging. Certified Angus Beef; they are the area's licensed distributor of Certified Angus Beef  Product.
