J. M. Fahey Construction was established in 1971 by Mr. Joseph M. Fahey. After establishing a solid foundation by gradually pursuing larger jobs in the early years, in 1979 the Company entered the cold milling market. 
In 1984, J. M. Fahey Construction Company purchased its first asphalt plant in Kansas City, Kansas. This plant allowed Fahey to work closely with municipalities in Johnson, Wyandotte and Leavenworth Counties and the Kansas Department of Transportation, on their hot-mix asphalt requirements. In 1988, 900 acres of quarry ground was purchased in northern Cass County, just south of the metropolitan area. Beyer is a major comprehensive supplier to Fahey jobsites and asphalt plants in addition to supplying hundreds of customers throughout the area.
