Kakuichi Tottori as Honolulu Poi Company was founded HPC Foods, Ltd. in 1946. The company started as a small poi milling operation with 3 employees and has developed to be one of the stateÂâ€Ã¢„¢s largest poi manufacturers and a leader in the development of taro products. In 1990, the company name was changed from Honolulu Poi Company, Ltd. to HPC Foods, Ltd. This change symbolizes a dedicated to continued development and diversification in the food industry.

HPC is one of the stateÂâ€Ã¢„¢s largest food manufacturers and distributors. The company produces a variety of products, including sprouts, bakery products and cut produce and distributes various local and mainland products. Presently, HPC Foods is proud to employ 184 full time workers in an effort to promote the use and consumption of taro in HawaiiÂâ€Ã¢„¢s modern culture. The company introduced taro bakery products, such as Taro Pancake Mix, Taro Rolls, Taro Pan and Taro Mochi.

The company recognizes the importance of food safety and quality, HPC Foods built a 9,000 square foot Produce Processing Center, which opened in June 2004. HPC provides 5 days per week deliveries. Their driver sales staff provides merchandising and also delivery services to their customers.

HPC provides distribution service for other local and mainland products, Manufacturing/Private Label, Product Development; HPC works with customers to develop new products that complement and improve the companyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s existing product line The Produce Processing Center opened its doors in June 2004. In this 13,000 sq ft facility, they manufacture fresh cut vegetables and fruits for both foodservice and retail customers. All processing is done in 35 degree Fahrenheit temperature on stainless steel equipment to maximize quality and food safety.

The HPC Foods is the largest developed in the state of Hawaii and currently grows packages and distributes mung bean sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, clover sprouts, soy sprouts, radish sprouts, broccoli sprouts and wheat grass. The HPC Foods built its 9,000 sq ft warehouse, which operates at forty degrees Fahrenheit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Central Distribution Center has 5 loading docks from which the fleet of refrigerated trucks can be loaded directly to complete the cold chain.

HPC Foods recognizes the need for food safety and quality. HPC is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) approved as well as certified by various individual audits requested by their customers.
