Melton Truck Lines Inc.


Melton Truck Lines started with a humble beginning in 1954 when Bert and Gladys Melton purchased a small piece of operating authority and a couple of trucks and began their operations in Crossett, Arkansas. Business began with hauling lumber and roofing materials in the states of Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Bert purchased two brand new diesel B Series Mack tractors within a few years of the company being established this gave him a fleet with a total of six trucks and twenty-three trailers. 
Duncan McRae, Jr., retired in 1991 by selling Melton Truck Lines, Inc. to the Petersons. At the time of the sale, MeltonÂâ€Ã¢„¢s operation consisted of 340 trucks, 700 trailers and 12 terminals. The Petersons decided to relocate the company headquarters to Tulsa, OK, merging GlasTran and Melton. Melton family members described the period before the merger as Old Melton and the subsequent years as New Melton. The company has grown through the years to become the industry leader that it has grown to be today.
Melton Truck Lines have their corporate and primary terminal offices centrally located within the U.S. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Melton utilizes facilities totaling about 40,000 sq. ft. which consists of offices, a maintenance shop, an inspection bay and a cargo protection facility on approximately 65 acres of land. Melton also occupies a major terminal in Laredo, Texas. This facility sits on 20 acres of land and contains a 5,000 sq.ft.  Office building, a 20-bay cargo protection facility, an inspection bay, and a new 5-bay maintenance shop. El Paso, Texas is the location of a third terminal. The CompanyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s sales offices are strategically located throughout the country, enabling them to service customers in each primary traffic region. Present locations include Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi and New Jersey. A staff of 140 friendly office employees and over 700 professional drivers keep the company growing.
