National Carriers was Established in 1968 in Liberal, Kansas, as a contract carrier to service the National Beef Packing Company. The company began with just three trucks and trailers leased from individual owner operators at the time. It was in 1974 that National Carriers obtained common carrier authority from the ICC. This was followed by a very aggressive growth strategy.

NCI Leasing is wholly owned and operated by National Carriers, Inc. and specializes in placing first-time or former, owner or operators in late model trucks. NCI Leasing matches trucks to applicants' needs.
The services that the company offers include; Refrigerated trucks running an average of eight hundred thousand miles per week, the National Carriers Refrigerated fleet consists of nearly five hundred power units and over a thousand trailers. All the equipment is operated by professionally trained and highly skilled company dispatchers and customer service representatives who work diligently to ensure that each load the company hauls is delivered safely to its final destination, on time every time. The company also transports live stock. A service that is invaluable to the hundred odd pork and beef producers who mainly request this service in the plains and the Midwest region.
