Burkhart Enterprises is a third generation company that has endeavored to improve and expand the business over the past five decades. This is a small family business recognized in 1946.
 
For the last fifty-six years BE Inc have made every effort to adapt and change to meet the demands of the society. With the help of the devoted staff, high standards, and good customer service, BE has transformed into a successful materials handling operation that handles over a half million tons of material per year by barge, truck and rail.
 
BE, Inc. is nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Barge Terminal is a "water gateway" to the entire world. Flatbeds, extendable flatbeds, pneumatic tankers, dump trailers, and various size lowboys are available to handle from the most sensitive material to large over-dimensional loads. BE handles hopper cars, flat cars, boxcars and multiple car shipments safely and efficiently. The track on the yard allows to work easily up to 16 cars at one time with ample room for expansion.
 
BE Inc. can handle all dry bulk and general cargo such as: rock, sand, coal, fertilizer, gypsum, ores, lime, salt, steel, zinc, scrap metal, and other products BE has 60 acres of open storage and covered storage and cranes ranging in size from 50 to 100 tons with 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 yard buckets for bulk material, and up to 300 ton cranes available for heavy lifts. And also have various size dozers and rubber tire loaders with up to 7-yard buckets to handle material safely and efficiently.
 
To keep the product clean and unpolluted, BE, Inc. has prepared and paved over 10 acres of storage pads for bulk material. An additional 50 acres are available for future expansion of bulk material pads and covered storage.
 
In the high-tech world of transportation, BE Inc has a complete state-of-the-art computer system. The daily input of equipment cost and its efficiency is monitored for any trouble areas and can be quickly pinpointed for adjustment, keeping operating costs to a minimum for customers.
 
Computerized truck scales and certified weigh masters assure customers of accurate weight accounting of legal maximum loads. The e-mail and facsimile machines allow important information to be exchanged to and from any part of the world in a matter of seconds.
