Dairyland was established in December, 1941. Today, the cooperativeÂâ€Ã¢„¢s generating stations have more than 1,100 megawatt capacity. Dairyland delivers electricity via more than 3,100 miles of transmission lines and nearly 300 substations located throughout the systemÂâ€Ã¢„¢s 44,500 square mile service area. The company is having its headquarters in La Crosse, Wis., Dairyland Power Cooperative is a generation and transmission cooperative (G&T) that provides the wholesale electrical requirements and other services for 25 electric distribution cooperatives and 20 municipal utilities in the Upper Midwest.

Dairyland continues to upgrade and rebuild its over 3130 miles of transmission system to meet the ever expanding needs and lifestyles of its customers. The company revamps approximately 50 to 60 miles of line yearly to maintain the superior service and reliability. Dairyland achieved significant improvements to its transmission system in 2001, resulting in increased reliability, while reducing costs and supporting new customer growth.
