Jack Cooper Transport Co Inc. was founded in 1928 by Jack Cooper as a carrier for general motorÂâ€Ã¢„¢s product from the Leeds Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Missouri; the company has grown through acquisitions to its current position. Jack Cooper Transport Co., Inc. and subsidiaries is one of the biggest privately owned auto transport carriers in the nation.

Presently, the company is owned and operated by Jack Cooper's grandson; Thom Cooper, Jr., JCT/PMT has the authority to operate in the continental U.S. utilizing 12 terminal facilities located throughout the Midwest and West. In 1984, acquisitions that have allowed this territorial development over the past years were United Transports, Inc. and Pacific Motor Trucking Co. in 1988. With the purchase of United Transports, Inc., an Oklahoma City based carrier, JCT tripled in size by adding six terminals to its system along with two General Motors Assembly Plants. Upon the procurement of Pacific Motor Trucking Co., a West Coast auto transport company, 7 terminals and 2 additional assembly plants were added.

The company has professional drivers and a fleet of over 800 trucks consisting primarily of new, modern quick loader equipment, the company has set the standard in the auto transport industry for timely, damage-free delivery of vehicles. Damage frequency at all JCT/PMT locations was less than the goal of 0.40 percent established by General Motors, their largest customer.

The companyÂâ€Ã¢„¢s primary service is the transportation of new and pre-owned passenger vehicles, light trucks and sport utility vehicles. They can be of assistance, whether needed for an assembly plant, railheads, ports, delivery operation of pre-owned vehicles, or a single automobile move. The company is already hauling over 1 million new and pre-owned automobiles and trucks throughout the U.S. yearly.
