Padgett Inc


Padgett Inc was started in 1962 in New Albany, Indiana in a 25' x 50' welding shop with one truck and one welder. Padgett is a full-service company for crane rental, machinery moving, rigging, steel fabrication and erection. Padgett Inc contains over 50 mobile cranes, professionally operated and maintained and is by far the largest, most technologically advanced in the area.
The huge slugger is 120 feet tall, weighs 68,000 pounds, and is 9 feet diameter at the base, 3.5 feet diameter at the handle with a 6.5 feet diameter knob. The hollow interior has a 30,000 gallon capacity and the lift was made in three stages. Padgett Inc is certified by the National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators, an OSHA accredited organization.
Padgett also offers spreader beams like OSHA-approved Man Baskets, Skip Boxes, Pallet Forks, Nylon Straps, Concrete Buckets, and Mats. Padgett's 80,000 capacity fork truck with 9'-10" mast moved the equipment from the production floor onto a 200-ton die cart. The equipment was then moved across the complex on the die cart and off-loaded using the fork truck. Padgett's Machinery Moving and Rigging Department has to precision fit machinery to tolerances of one thousandth of an inch with features of Fixturlaser Shaft Alignment System and the Fixturlaser Roll Alignment System. These special pieces of equipment allow install, level, align motors, pumps, conveyor systems, generators, and various other machinery, ensuring that they operate properly and efficiently.
Padgett Inc also handles the fabrication and field erection of the structural and miscellaneous steel when construction of the new sanctuary began and consist of approximately 450 tons of various structural and miscellaneous fabricated components, the largest being the main load truss that weighed in excess of 45,000 pounds and was 12 feet deep by 100 feet long. Beam and angle line machines are used with the latest computer technology that results in precise drilling and cutting, optimizing efficiency and minimizing errors. This program is tailored for the steel industry from engineering through production control. Fabrication shop uses this to collect scrap steel at each work station.
