The venerable Beacon Sales Company was founded in 1928 in Somerville, Mass. as a commercial roofing supply business. Today Beacon Sales continues to provide both established and growing contractors with its superior brand of customer service and with roofing and related products from leading manufacturers.
In 1980 and 1990, Beacon expanded to 10 locations throughout New England. Each branch conveniently located near contractors for job-site delivery offering quality service and products and value added services like tapered insulation system design. Beacon branches offer a full line of commercial and residential roofing and related products.
In 1990 a Beacon Reps division was formed to provide effective marketing to owners and architects to maintain and increase market share for those roofing system manufacturers represented by Beacon and for the local contractors approved to install their systems. In 1998 Beacon Sales Company was acquired by an investment-banking firm and became part of Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. a corporation of highly reputed regional distributors of roofing products. In 2000 Beacon Sales Company added a full-service metal shop, Coastal Metal Service, to its array of specialized roofing services. BeaconÂâ€Ã¢„¢s metal shop fabricates custom metal details for commercial and residential projects and manufactures complete metal roofing systems either in the shop or at the job site with a portable roll former.
