Perkins Specialize Transportation Inc. was started in 1913 when Brownie Perkins started the business using horses and wagons, Brownie specialized in the local delivery of new furniture from stores to homes. In 1924 he bought his first motor trucks and the horses were soon displaced in the business. In 1924, when motor trucks were being used, Mr. Perkins changed the name to F. R. Perkins Trucking Company. B. Edward Luglan purchased the company, incorporated and changed the name to Perkins Trucking, Inc.
 
In 1997 the name was changed to Perkins Specialized Transportation, Inc." reflecting the changing nature of the business, an air-ride transportation company providing expert, damage-free, time sensitive delivery of uncartoned and cartoned shipments to any point in the U.S.
