Dick Harris started the company back in 1969 when he bought a truck along with two trailers, and started operating from a small terminal in Lynchburg, Virginia, he established Dick Harris and Son Trucking. More than 30 years later, that modest business has grown to become one of the leading family-owned trucking firms in the East. Today, Harris Trucking has over 200 tractors, 400 trailers, and employs more than 250 staff members and drivers.

In addition to the main headquarters in Madison Heights, Virginia which is just outside of Lynchburg, Harris operates out of terminals in Richmond, Virginia, and Blountville, Tennessee. Those central locations effectively position the company to serve cities and ports throughout the Eastern and Central US.
