NPE, Inc. known also as Nickel Plate Express is an Oregon Corporation that was started in 1983.  The company was a post-deregulation truckload subsidiary of Silver Eagle Industries of Portland, Oregon at start-up.  The company was later acquired as a wholly owned subsidiary of Puget Sound Freight Lines, Inc. in December 1986 and remains as such. The company is a regional interstate truckload carrier of general commodities serving all markets within the 11 Western States.   Approximately 75 to 80% of the business is within the I-5 corridor between California and the Pacific Northwest.  The balance is in Arizona and the Inter-Mountain States.  This is accomplished with a power fleet consisting of new and late model 3-axle tractors and new and late model high cube 48' & 53' dry van trailers.

NPE has general and administrative offices located in Eugene, Oregon.  Dispatch Operations are centralized there as well.  Drivers, power equipment and trailers are domiciled at several locations throughout Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona.  Leased facilities, which include secure trailer storage and local drayage capability, are located in Tacoma, Washington, Portland and Eugene, Oregon, Commerce, Fontana, Oakland and Woodland, California.  NPE currently operates approximately 220 tractors and 450 trailers and has capacity available in all the West Coast major markets on a daily basis.  The dispatch center is staffed 7 days per week with on call coverage 24 hours per day 7 days per week.  NPE has sleeper team capability, which provides overnight service between California and Oregon/Washington.

NPE is committed to providing quality service exclusively on the basis of demand in response to individual customer needs.  In addition, NPE will adjust to meet the seasonal needs of individual shippers.  Quality at NPE is achieved and maintained by blending the traditional transportation technology to create a consistently high level of flexible quality service and accountable performance throughout the service area on a year-round basis.

NPE's growth rate has resulted in a tenfold increase in annual revenues over the past ten years.  The company is adding capacity in the form of operations personnel, tractors, trailers and drivers.  Increasing customer demand for the type of value added services, which NPE provides, drives this growth.

NPE has an outstanding record in the area of safety.  They have received the ATA Safety Award, which is issued in conjunction with the Oregon Trucking Association and Great West Casualty Company, for 12 of the past 15 years.
