Gartsen Interstate Systems is a trucking company and in the late 1920's Everett stepped into his father's shoes as President of Gertsen Cartage Company and dedicated himself and the company to improve on the quality of service available to the trucking industry. With the same drive and dedication that their father had, they continued to improve on the quality of service available to the trucking industry. Over the years Gertsen Cartage Company has grown from a one-man horse and wagon team into a fleet of interstate tractors now known as Gertsen Interstate Systems, Inc.
 
Today fourth generation Jeffrey Gertsen, Steven Gertsen, and Christopher Gertsen continue to carry on the dedication and commitment that their great-grandfather did over 100 years ago. Recently, the fifth generations of Gertsens has become involved in the family business and continue to keep the spirit of their great, great grandfather alive.

Gertsen Interstate Systems currently has over 70 drivers between there Melrose Park terminal and the Galesburg, Michigan terminal. Gertsen Interstate Systems has forty-eight state authority plus Canada and is a licensed and bonded motor carrier. Gertsen Interstate Systems currently has a fleet of 50 chassis including tri-axles and can provide storage of loaded or empty containers for customers. Gertsen Interstate Systems is a motor carrier located in Melrose Park, Illinois.
