Financial Partner DaimlerChrysler Services Truck Finance to Sponsor Silent Auction

*Both Companies Maintain Local Volunteer Base for SMART Reading Program

PORTLAND, OREGONFreightliner Trucks announced today the sponsorship of Anvils Third Annual Get SMART Gala Event, taking place on September 22, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. at Holocene in Southeast Portland. The gala is intended to raise community awareness and recruit volunteers for the SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) reading program. Freightliners financial partner, DaimlerChrysler Services Truck Finance, is sponsoring the silent auction at the event.

The SMART reading program is a proven, necessary and wonderful community-driven program for the children of Portland and the state of Oregon, said Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President of Sales, Freightliner LLC. We are happy to be this years SMART Gala official sponsor. It will be a great venue for recruiting new volunteers while spreading the word on how the SMART reading program assists the children of our community.

Lampert added, As a company that employs over four thousand employees right here in the Portland metropolitan area, we highly encourage our local workforce to participate in the SMART literacy program, giving back to the community in which we all live and work.

DaimlerChrysler Services Truck Finance, sponsor of this years SMART Gala silent auction, recently held a SMART recruitment meeting for members of their local Montgomery Park office. Helping local, at-risk children strengthen their reading skills, build self-esteem and encourage their continued education is something that we are proud to be a part of in the Portland area, said Anthony Bandmann, Director of Sales, Marketing and Remarketing, DaimlerChrysler Services Truck Finance.

The SMART Gala is expected to draw hundreds of local business professionals, raise awareness of the literacy program and generate funds that will allow SMART to help an even greater number of struggling readers throughout the Portland metropolitan area.

The gala will be hosted by Les Sarnoff from local radio station KINK-FM and will feature a silent and live auction and raffle prizes. Local company Anvil Media, Inc., a search engine marketing agency specializing in search engine optimization and pay-per-click management services, is the founder and organizer of the annual Get SMART Gala Events.

The SMART program, which is fully sanctioned and supported within our company, allows our employees to inspire, motivate and encourage SMART children in the hopes that future generations of Portlanders will be successful and highly-literate.
