Knight Transportation was started in Plain City, Utah by Randy, Keith, Gary and Kevin Knight with plenty of experience and vision. The idea was to make a short medium haul truckload route.  The management of Knight Transportation is still the same, as is the goal: to reach the best cost effective operation.

 

Today, Knight Transportation Service has diversified itself in the trucking business: it has opened a fleet sales department with a maintained service provided since it leaves the factory, it has flexible delivery terms, has certified engine check and additional warranty coverage available at a discount.

 

For its dedicated service, Knight Transportation Services offers dedicated drivers, multi year transportation contracts, shippers location and shippers own human resources, and finally, it reduces costs by 10% and 20%. Knights Transportation has also added to these programs modern communication equipment, tracking by Internet and monthly reviews services to adjust the process at starting steps.  

 

For the truckload service, Knight Transportation has its operation base in Phoenix, Arizona.  From this office, the company spreads to 9 strategic locations from the West and the Rocky Mountains to the Southeast, across the Central to the Gulf Coast, and more.

 

The Knight Transportations fleet is conformed by 2.100 ultimate tractors, 5.400 maintained trailers, their characteristic goes through be Freightliner Century C120, Volvo 660 and 670, Peterbilt 379 condo sleeper, horse power of 440, engines Cummins CAT, Volvo and Detroit.  The trailers are 53 dry Van Dura plate and Qualcomm and Terion Tracking. With all of this, Knight Transportation put in charge of its fleet well-trained and experienced drivers.

 

Knight Transportation Services also works with the owner operator mode. To the contractors the company offers a pay between $0.87 and $1.07 depending of the miles covered, discount fuel and predictable home time. The trucks specifications are 5 years old minimum, sliding fifth wheel, speed set to 69mph and such.
